10 അംഗങ്ങൾ ഉള്ള ഒരു പാവപ്പെട്ട കാർഷിക കുടുംബത്തിൽ ജനനം. SSLC ക്ലാസ്സിൽ മാസം ആറ് രൂപ ഫീസ്സ് കൊടുക്കുവാൻ പ്രാപ്തിയില്ലാതെ ദിവസങ്ങളോളം ക്ലാസ്സിന് വെളിയിലാക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ , താനറിയാതെ, വീട്ടിലെ ഒരു വരുമാനമാർഗ്ഗവും തന്റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവളുമായിരുന്ന 'കറമ്പിപ്പശു'വിനെ വിറ്റിട്ടാണ് അച്ഛൻ ഫീസ്സ് തന്നതെന്നറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ സങ്കടം കാരണം ആഹാരം കഴിക്കാതെ നടന്നു.
1959 ൽ SSLC പാസ്സായി. 1963 ൽ നാടുവിട്ടു MP യിൽ ജോലി കിട്ടി. ആ മാസം അമ്മയുടെ മരണം 1965 ൽ അച്ഛന്റെ മരണം. വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളായിരുന്ന ഇളയ അഞ്ചുപേരുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം ഏറ്റെടുക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു. 1967 ൽ UPSC പരീക്ഷ പാസ്സായി കൽക്കട്ടയിൽ പ്ലാനിംഗ് കമ്മീഷനിൽ ജോലി. മേലുദ്യോഗസ്ഥനോട് വഴക്കും പിണക്കവുമായി വകവെയ്ക്കാതെ രാത്രികോളേജിൽ ചേർന്ന് B.Com (Hons.) പാസ്സായി.
Born in a very poor agri. family. After SSLC in most difficult circumstances, left native place in search of a job. Joined as LD Clerk in a central Govt office somewhat by force, so to say, though actually there did not exist a vacancy, in the forest area of Dandakaranya in Bastar Dist. of the then M.P. and finally reached the level of Finance Consultant to the World Healrh Organizatiin (WHO). In between entered Central Secretariat through UPSC examnination, obtained a degree from Calcutta University by attending night college while working, that too against objections from boss and quarrelling with him and ignoring his stern warnings. Again through UPSC reached gazetted rank, and worked in an office at Trivandrum, where corruption was rampant. There worked effortlessly and in most dangerous conditions against corruption by fighting with politicians, including CM of Kerala and Kerala police, human trafficking, travel and visa maffias due to which there were questions raised by Kerala MPs against me in both Houses of Parliament inorder to get me punished and removed from service, which they failed in their efforts as truth easily prevailed. Got one SP and CI and half a dozen SI ranked police officers suspended from service on different occasions by fearlessly and single handedly raiding Airport and catching them red-handed. All relrntless efforts of CM, MPs and Police officials for five years to dislodge or transfer me and even to annihilate me failed due to my alertness and sincere intentions for and I went back to Delhi after completing my mission with flying colours. In Central Secretariate, reached the level of Deputy Secretary before taking voluntary retirement in protest against bad intentions and corrupt practices of Senior IAS level bureaucrat bosses. Their true colours were brought out in a long speech in the presence of Secretary of the Ministry at my farewell meeting which was attended by almost all officials of the ministry in the large conference hall which resulted in the Secretary's taking action to bring to book the involved IAS officials!
After retirement frim Govt. service, joined the World Health Organization as Finance Consulrant and worked with them for 10 long and very fruitful and satisfying years.
The extra ordinary experiences iduring my career gave inspiratiin to pen my Autobography which even won the U.A. Khader Award for best autibiographical Novel.
