Fresh mri report

 Fresh whole Spine MRI Report

Name of patient:. K. Upagupthan
Age. :. 82 years
Heart patient since the last 37 years (Ocurred in Jan/ 1987)

Complaint before lumbar spine surgery : Compression to both cervical and lumbar spines and numbness to both palms and numbness as well as burning sensation of both the feet.

Date of Lumbar Spine Surgery :. 24/05/24
Date of discharge        :. 27-28/05/24
(No surgery was done to the Cervical spine as there is no pain to the neck or compression area and the numbness of the palms is not that severe and the hands are found to be strong enough to carry out routine works)

Physical condition since the surgery :

1.  For about 5 months since discharge, walking ( daily for about 2 km) has been almost smooth.  However, the numbness and burning sensation of both the feet persisted almost as has  been befoe the
surgery.  To reduce burning sensation, have been wearing socks.  (It may be mentioned here that the numbness of the palms has been persisting without any change in severity for the last 5 years (due to compression of the cervical spine, ( no pain) for which no surgery has been done yet.

2.  Since the last one to one and a half months while walking, there has been a strong feeling of abnormal heavinees to both thighs and hips due to which there is problem in walking which has forced walking  indoors in the hall only.  Cannot sit on a chair or sofa for more than 20 to 30 minutes after which there is difficulty in getting up and walking.

3. After taking food there is a strong feeling of heaviness to the head for about 20 to 30 minutes which started during the last one month or so.  This problem used to be there for few months before the surgery as well. For about 5 months after the surgery this probldm was absent.

4.  Due to the new development, fresh MRI of whole spine was taken and the local Neuro Surgeon, after examining the MRI Report, opined that no fresh problem has been noticed to the lumbar spine or the area where surgery was  done.  He also opined that the persistence of numbeness and burning sensation of the feet maybe due to the prolonged state of compression to the spine for the last 4 to 5 years and it is likely to persist for ever.  He was unable to find the exact reason for the feeling of heaviness to the thighs and hips and the resultant difficulty in walking.  He has advised to cosume capsule Pragabalin 75 mg three times a day in place of once a day.  This has been resorted to since the last one month.

The MRI report is attached herewith for your perusal and considered opinion and advice also based on the  other difficulties explained above.

Thank you very much
